Webcam FPS Test

Measure the frame rate delivered to your browser after granting camera permission. Results can vary with light, USB bandwidth, drivers, and browser processing.

Webcam FPS Test

Accesses your webcam and estimates the frame-update rate delivered to the browser. Shows live FPS, average FPS, and device info.

FPS is estimated by detecting changes in a small sample region. A mostly static scene can undercount delivered frames. Camera hardware, lighting, USB bandwidth, drivers, and browser processing also affect results.

Measuring Webcam Frame Rate

A webcam's stated frame rate is the maximum under ideal conditions. The stream delivered to a browser depends on lighting, USB bandwidth, CPU availability, drivers, and camera firmware. This tool estimates frame-update rate by watching for changes in a small sample region, so a mostly static scene can undercount frames.

Use the result as a practical browser-stream comparison when diagnosing choppy video or checking changes in lighting, USB ports, and camera settings. It is not a sensor-level camera benchmark.
